The "mountain queen" with the number 95 027 was manufactured in 1923 by Hannoversche Maschinenbau AG (HANOMAG). With 1,620 hp, the class 95 steam locomotives were the most powerful tank locomotives ever procured by the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft.
Road number 95 027 did its hard work until 1982 at various depots on Germany's steepest mountain routes. From 1950 to 1969 it was stationed in Blankenburg and drove up to the Harz mountains on the Rübelandbahn. In 1971 it was converted to oil main firing. In 1982 it was converted back to coal firing and included in the stock of traditional DR locomotives.
From 1994 to 2008 the locomotive with boiler damage stood in the museum in Arnstadt. Since 2010, after a thorough renovation in the Meiningen steam locomotive works, it has been steaming again with tourist trains on its steep main route in the Harz Mountains.
