On May 22, 1975, the “Swiss Express” train category of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) was introduced together with the commissioning of the Heitersberg line and then existed until 1982. This category replaced the earlier city express trains. At the time, they were considered SBB's parade trains and served the most important traffic route from Geneva to St. Gallen. At that time, the trains were covered by eight Re 4/4 IIs specially prepared for this purpose. Unfortunately, only the 11108 and 11109 remember the color scheme of that time.
With the Re 4/4 II 11108 we are announcing one of the more popular locomotives. The “Cremeschnitte”, as it is also affectionately called, which will still be in regular use until 2021, is now parked in Olten. There it waits for further use.
