The two-car Dutch electric multiple unit Plan V - better known in the Netherlands as Mat '64 or by its nickname Apekop (monkey's head) - became one of the standard commuter trains of the Dutch State Railways from the mid-1960s. With a total of 246 units, it was the most frequently built multiple unit of the NS at the time. From the V3 series, the new color scheme of the Dutch State Railways also prevailed in the Plan V: bright yellow with gray details on the front and three blue diagonal stripes on each side of the car. Before they were decommissioned, the multiple units were used on almost all electrified railway lines in the Netherlands.
