Product Info
"The Class 103 - Stars of the Railroad". In order to increase speeds in passenger train service, the German Federal Railroad developed the class E03 in the 1960s. The pre-production locomotives E03 001 to E03 004 were available from 1965. These locomotives, designated 103 001 to 103 004 from 1968 onward, differed from the production machines built from 1970 onward in several details. Externally, the second row of fans on the series locomotives was very noticeable. The main area of use for the beige/red painted locomotives was TEE as well as IC/EC traffic. From 1987 onwards, the locomotives were gradually painted in the orient red color scheme, with various design versions being used. In 1997, the star of the former "star locomotives" of the DB began to decline. They were replaced by the BR 101. In 2003, their scheduled use in train service ended, but the locomotives 103 001, 103 113 and 103 245, which are subordinate to the DB Museum, are still used sporadically. The new Arnold model in detail: -Frame made of metal injection molding, housing also made of high quality plastic. -The locomotives have detailed and illuminated engine room equipment (in digital mode with flickering of the fluorescent tubes when switched on). -Powerful five-pole motor with flywheel masses -All wheelsets powered -Close coupler kinematics on both sides with coupler pockets according to NEM 355 -The headlights and marker lights are illuminated according to the direction of travel and can be switched in digital operation. -Many extra details and finest metal pantographs -All model versions also available with sound. The sound was developed in cooperation with ESU especially by us for this model. -Digital interface according to NEM 662 ("Next 18") -Minimum radius: 192 mm -Length over buffers: 121 or 126 mm
